IChemE recognition for OSL training scheme
We are proud to have been re-accredited by the Institution of Chemical Engineers’ (IChemE) in recognition of our commitment to developing the chemical engineers of tomorrow.
Our Graduate Development Programme received a renewed accreditation as an Accredited Company Training Scheme (ACTS), which IChemE award to organisations that ‘demonstrate they meet IChemE’s international standard – providing the optimum training opportunities and support for new graduates seeking Chartered Chemical Engineer status’.
Lead Process Engineer Neil Harvey heads up our Graduate Development Programme. He said: “The IChemE assessors attended the OSL office in August and spent a day reviewing the programme.
“The feedback we received was all very positive. The assessors could not find any weaknesses in our scheme and were highly complementary, which was great to hear.”
In addition to the renewal of the accreditation, IChemE also requested that they share two aspects of our scheme with other companies as examples of best practice. These relate to the work of the Technical Development Team (TDT), which discusses each trainee in turn at a monthly meeting with all the Chiefs, Mentors and a Company Director in attendance, and the way our scheme continues beyond chartership, continuing to develop and push our colleagues to achieve Senior Engineer status.
Neil added: “It’s a real tribute to the senior engineers and management at OSL that IChemE were so impressed by our Graduate Development Programme. I’m very proud that our work will be held up as an example to other companies of how to develop their senior chemical engineers of tomorrow.”
